I always believed in the power of the human mind, way before I actually had scientific proof that our thoughts create our reality.
I found that out through writing fiction, something that required endless hours of spinning worlds and living through the eyes of my characters. Before long, I realized that the way I thought while writing as a character, actually altered the way I saw the world in real life.
(I know it sounds kind of ditzy, but shifting through different perspectives to finish a book really gives you a whole new angle on the power of your mind. Trust me.)
However, that’s a story for another post. The meat of the matter is that I discovered that honing and training my thoughts made all the difference in my progress through life. It’s never the situation that you find yourself in, it’s how you think about it.
That realization was one of the things that led me to starting this blog, The Femme Agenda. As a young woman charting my life, I saw the need to immerse myself in things that would help positively fuel my mind. That, coupled with my desire to empower women across the globe led me to start this amazing website. The Femme Agenda is a place to bask in positivity, motivation and practicality.
I remember listening to one of Les Brown’s speeches where he said that the first 10 minutes of your day actually determined your mood for the rest of it. So you should spend those 10 minutes setting your goals to accomplish. Later, I found this Psychology Today article that basically said the same thing.
Needless to say, implementing this strategy has actually redefined the way I spend each of my 24 hours. Like I said in my first ever post on this blog, habits make us, so it’s always good to pick up beneficial ones.
I know it isn’t easy though, lol. (It actually took me quite a while to break out of trying to spend as much time as I could in bed.) That’s why I spent some time creating a guide to get you started on making those first 10 minutes of the day count.
